I'm
so glad that you chose to visit my Web sight today. Art is fun because
the artist can sometimes stand right next to the painting in a show and
listen to the comments people make without ever being known as the artist.
You see, usually a working artist does not take time to socialize. The
painting is an entity unto it's self and does not need an artist attached
to it to be enjoyed. That all changed for me in the eighties. That is
when after already gaining a reputation through juried and invitational
shows, I was recognized by the White House as an artist that they wanted
to see. I was asked by them to create a work to be shown there and then
have it be placed in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Museum.
The next year I was honored when the White House asked me to be the juror for the artists used that year in the collection. During this same decade I began working with Leanin' Tree art card company that still publishes my images today. My work has been shown and collected all over the world. I often joke that the work had been to many more exotic locations than I ever will visit. You will see as you look through this sight that my work takes many long hours to create. The medium is transparent watercolor. I was told when I first started painting thirty years ago, that transparent watercolor was the very hardest to master. That's why I used it. I thought that if I didn't start with this medium, I would never have the courage to get into it later. There are as many as fifteen different colors laid one on top of another to create the intense colors and finish my work is known for. I just love the layered wonder that comes from the brush as the Lord shares His creative gift with me.
So, welcome to my world
of color and joy.
